Blepharitis

You suffer from a very common condition called blepharitis.Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid lip,at the point where the eyelashes come out

This condition is not directly related to infection, but is due to the accumulation of normal secretions of the eyelids.

When added up, these secretions irritate your eyes. The symptoms from the irritation are redness, foreign body sensation, itchiness and lacrimation. The treatment of this condition involves removing these secretions with a daily eyelid hygiene technique.

This technique is being described below. Following this technique, you will notice improvement of your condition in 3-4 weeks. You should probably continue cleaning the eyelids to prevent relapses.

HYGIENE OF THE EYELIDS FOR BLEPHARITIS

1. Place hot compresses on your eyes for 10 minutes. Heat the compress every 2 minutes.

2. Wash your face with warm water or soap

3. Mix several drops of baby shampoo in a small container with water. Use this mix to wet a cleaning cloth and clean your eyelids with it.

4. Rub your eyelids on the eyelid lip (where the eyelids come out) with the wet cleaning cloth (with the baby shampoo mix).

5. Wash your face with warm water and dry it out with a clean towel.

In the treatment of blepharitis, the instillation of artificial tears, low-strength cortisone drops for a short period of time is included. Also in some cases the drug treatment with oral antibiotic doxycycline is indicated as well as a special treatment with tea tree oil for the treatment of a mite called Demodex.

Do the above 2 times per day 4 to 6 weeks. Then only once a day. If you have any questions or your symptoms do not subside please contact us at 210-9320215
